Happiness Hangs in the Balance

Balance -what is it and what happens when out of balance?
I am not talking about whether you wobble or not, I am talking about whether the inner you is in balance. Western medicine thinks about whether you are ill or healthy, be it mind or body. The concept of your inner balance being off is not considered. Even though it accepts the concept that how you mind feels can affect your body etc.
I have embraced the thinkings of eastern medicine, in particular Japan and in fact that of many ancient civilisations like the celts. Where the idea of balance is at the heart of feeling good and having good health.
We all get days where we are a bit out of sorts, can’t seem to get our act together and that is fine. Just as we have days of good mental health and bad mental health. These are normal, however when we are down more than up or out of balance more than in balance then there is a problem.
It is time to look to your inner balance.
Many people suffer from a condition called “21st Centuryitis,” however I think of it more as “Modernities,” as it started long before the 21st century as I wrote about in my blog dated 12th January this year. It is caused by living a life at too quick a pace, without taking time to slow down and rebalance.
This leaves one feeling tired, weary, preoccupied, with your mind full of thoughts, feelings and emotions. It often affects one’s sleep, health, work and general ability to enjoy life. It need not be so!
This condition doesn’t just affect people, it affects businesses too. For if the people who work there as staff, managers or owners are out of balance how can the business operate in balance. This is seen in rising levels of absenteeism, “duvet days,” due to people feeling unable to perform their tasks. There is also reduced productivity, which is obvious if the people are not feeling right then they will not work to their best.
Nature is out of balance as a result of our lifestyles, which has caused the adverse changes in the climate and has resulted in far too many species going extinct, because they couldn’t adapt quick enough. As a result of our technological developments, we live in a world that has changed at a faster pace than we can adapt too, are we to be another species heading for extinction?
There is an old saying,
If you keep doing what you have always done, you will get what you have always got.
For many the idea of change can be scary, however, sometimes it can bring about something good. I recently received an email from a lady, who enjoys my blogs but progressing eye problems means reading is getting very difficult for her.
This was something I hadn’t thought about. However, once I realised this I acted and so this is the first month my blogs come as written and audio. This is where change can be for the good. There must be lots of people for whom reading is a problem, that lady contacting me has opened the door for others to be able to benefit from.
Returning to our need for inner balance, for decades we have been living and working in the same way and getting the same results, perhaps it is time to change. This can seem a scary thought for many people, however it can be a positive thing too.
It is time to change how we do things, first in the business world, by adopting a new philosophy, a different way of doing things and thus bring the company back in balance and more resilient. This will change how they relate to their staff and in turn help their staff come back in balance, be resilient and enable them to be the best versions of themselves. All this is achieved with nature at the heart of it.
This same approach should be brought into schools so the future guardians of nature and future workers will grow up valuing and caring for nature. Being in balance, resilient and able to be the best versions of themselves.
