Hello and welcome to March and this month’s Blog.
Well, after what seems like a winter that has lasted forever, this month sees spring arriving and with it our native Daffodils brightening up the days.
Last month we took a trip back in time to discover that our ancestors had to deal with stress and how they coped. This month we are going to look at what we can learn from them.
Nature’s Cure for Stress and more.
For most people the answer to stress and its related illnesses is a trip to the doctor and some pills to help. Often advise is given to take breaks, perhaps get out and have a walk.
However, is it really that simple?
Well, in part it can be. Nowadays we all suffer often silently with all manner of illnesses and complaints from... constant headaches, IBS, tiredness, seasonal affected disorder (SAD), attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), mental fatigue, weight problems, high blood pressure, diabetes type 2, pain, immune system problems, heart problems, social isolation and loneliness.
This may seem a lot but actually there are more! These are all symptoms of a system out of balance, at ‘disease’.
When we are in perfect health we are referred to as being at ‘ease.’ However, when we are unwell, we are referred to as being ‘diseased.’
That is where we get the word from, it is a catch all for being out of balance within ourselves, however, we tend to use it to mean we have a illness.
So, if we start to use the word disease properly, it naturally follows that we wish to return to a state of ease. To achieve that we need to return as much as possible to our natural way of life.
No, it doesn’t mean we have to don our animal skin clothes and live in caves. What it does means is taking from our ancestors the lesson of how to live with and in nature, and to use the natural tools to help us deal with the stresses of modern times.
For those of you considering is it really worth doing anything about being at ease rather than disease, here are some points for you to consider.
If you are off on long term sick (disease) then these are likely things for you to face on top of whatever is wrong medically…
Financial issues like - Your income may well be reduced, which could result in debt accumulation, which can affect your credit score, and can even affect your pension.
Hidden financial costs like – being at home more will increase energy bills plus any medical costs.
Career issues like – being at disease long term can affect your chances of promotion, being pressured to return too early which makes your disease worse and you are back off on the sick. This can even lead to redundancy.
Emotional & mental health costs like- financial stress will make your recovery slower and can lead to further illnesses due to stress like anxiety & depression. A staggering 64% of people on long-term sick report high levels of anxiety, which again will slow your recovery.
Another issue is that of feeling guilty at not being at work, perhaps a burden to the rest of the family. It can be very frustrating not being well enough to return to work. Not to mention how lonely it can be, 39% of people off on the sick reported feelings of loneliness.
If this has left you feeling down and worried about what could happen if you were on long-term sickness, fear not for there is an answer.
It is called...
The Way of the Tree
Even the NHS have acknowledged that spending time in nature is good for you, yet still it is not on prescription, and a good, qualified guide is needed to get you started.
Fortunately, I am both qualified and according to my clients good. So, let me tell you if you are wanting to either improve your general health and reduce the likelihood of being on long-term sick or have a specific goal you want to achieve.
For example, stop smoking, lose weight, get fitter, or perhaps you want to be the best version of yourself then why not let nature and I help you. By regaining your balance in nature, you can become at ease, and the best thing is you don’t have to starve yourself or get sweating at the gym. It is easy, fun and you will achieve your goals.
If this sounds like you, then I hope this gives you hope and if you want to find out more, please contact me,
Join me next month when I will be looking at the cost of NOT embracing a natural way to increase your profits by helping your employees the natural way. If you can’t wait then contact me, nadine@naturegives.co.uk.
