The Society for Nature Connectivity was established in 2020 with the aim of setting a standard in teaching people to be able to connect to nature. 

Many people have become very disconnected to nature and with that disconnection we lose the ability to use nature to heal us, as our ancestors did. 
 
Never before, has it been more important for people of all ages and abilities to connect to nature. It is good for us, and it is good for nature.  
 
We live in a world where there is always a lot of pressure and stress, most people live a lifestyle which promotes further pressures. 
 
These pressure affect the quality of our lives, our ability to work to our best, often resulting in burnout. This pressure causes a lot of stress related illnesses which also put the NHS under pressure. It has also affected people’s levels of patience and kindness. 
The concept of connecting to nature to improve your mental and physical health is nothing new. They have been using it both to heal and to prevent illness for hundreds of years in Japan. In the 1980s they gave it the name Shinrin Yoku, which translates into forest bathing. 
 
They have created several Shinrin Yoku forests, and it is part of life there. It has spread to S. Korea and USA where they are now creating similar forests. 
 
Under the name forest bathing it has reached Britain. However, there has been no society or governing body to establish a standard for training and best practice. 
 
This is why the Society for Nature Connectivity was established. 
It is planned to establish recognised qualifications, practices and list of practitioners so people will be able to choose with confidence.  
 
Sadly we have heard far too many stories of people’s experiences, which were far from ideal, or what Shinrin Yoku is really about. 
 
One day we hope nature connectivity will be as common here as it is in Japan. Also, that this society will ensure the best training is given to practitioners so they can give the best service to their clients. 
 
Shinrin Yoku is an amazing way to improve your health, it requires no special equipment and should be able to be done by virtually anyone.
