Nature Connectivity & Rewilding Centre
“Right now, we are facing a man-made disaster of global scale. If we don’t take action, the collapse of our civilizations and the extinction of much of the natural world is on the horizon. Nature once determined how we survive. Now we determine how nature survives.”
Sir David Attenborough
“Transforming mental health services is one of the most pressing public health challenges. Investing in mental health means investing in people, communities, and economies – an investment that none of us can afford to neglect.”
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus – Director-General, World Health Organisation
OUR MISSION
“To promote wellbeing while caring for the earth, creating experiences that restore both people and the natural world.”
Our mission is being delivered in 2 elements, running concurrently...
1. Connecting with Nature
In this track, we help people through local classes and Social Prescribing to connect with nature and learn how nature can help them heal, recover and become the best version of themselves.
Initially Japan started this way of improving people’s mental and physical health, with amazing results. This is now spreading around the world, and extensive research world-wide has confirmed the early results, resulting in more countries including nature as part of the ways to help people.
Britain is still lagging behind, but we hope to change that.
To this end, we run classes where individuals can learn about these benefits and how to access them, based on well-proven Japanese principles and philosophies. We also work with businesses large and small to help their staff gain these same benefits.
Why should people take up nature?
For individuals, learning to connect to nature and access the benefits will help them become the best versions of themselves. They will be able to improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing.
The wider community will benefit too, by reducing the drain on the NHS with many illnesses which take up time and resources but could be improved through better connectivity to nature.
Businesses will benefit because they will have more people working, more productively and less absenteeism.
Finally, Nature will benefit because, once people see that nature is important to them, they will value it, and when we value something, we respect and care for it. This will help people make the necessary changes to their lifestyles to help nature and the planet.
2. Nature Connectivity & Re-Wilding Centre
The second element of our mission is to take on a site, possibly one that has been abused through over-farming, chemical usage or through other use, which has resulted in the land having lost its value and having a negative impact on the locality and nature.
We will plant trees, introduce and encourage biodiversity, bring in the right animals to help re-wild the site and facilitate nature to take over and lead the restoration of the site.
Our founder, Nadine Carr, will live on site with her family, who will continue the work there after she is gone (not that she plans to go any time soon!).
We will build the necessary buildings for our accommodation and for people to come and stay while they learn.
These buildings will be constructed and adapted in a sustainable, nature-friendly way and be a place to showcase how sustainable, eco-friendly building practices and renewable technology can be used.
We will also develop a large building which could be used for weddings to help fund the running of the site, as well as hosting events, talks etc., to promote the aims of the CIC and caring for nature.
We would then look to use the site to continue the work of the CIC in helping people and businesses, teaching people how to live in harmony with nature, not at the cost of nature.
Across the country, there are a number of similar sites where elements of this larger concept are already in successful operation. However, we believe that each element on its own is not as effective as when they are all delivered together.
This site will enable all the benefits from the first element of our mission to reach more people and lead to other sites being created across the country.
There will also be a further benefit from the creation of this Nature Connectivity & Re-Wilding Centre…
The local economy will benefit because, where some of the elements of our mission have already begun around the world, it has been quite quickly found to trigger a boost to the local economy from eco-tourism and increased employment.
We must act now; this is not something which may be ‘nice to do’ at some point. Too many people, communities, businesses, the economy and the planet need this to happen.
How can you help?
There are many ways anyone can help. Here are just a few of them…
Support us with connections to useful people and groups.
Become a strategic partner to throw your weight behind us.
Help with funding, either directly or indirectly.
Spread the word of our mission to anyone who may be able to help.
The time has come when we all need to start changing our attitudes and ways of living to help address the mental health crisis that is impacting us all, and before we trigger the Sixth Mass Extinction that Sir David Attenborough has been warning us all of.
Our dream is a big one and yes some may say crazy. However, if you consider what was said back in the mid-1990s when Sir Tim Smit and Jonathan Ball first outlined their idea for the Eden Project, it was largely viewed as a "wild dream", not worth doing, crazy.
Yet now that site is not just alive and happening, it is growing and expanding beyond its initial concept. Indeed, it received some 543,000 visitors of all ages and abilities in 2025 alone!
So, perhaps our dream is not so crazy after all - but it is wild, because that is what is needed. We are looking for people who can see our vision and would like to help make it happen.
